What ECM skin booster is
Skin sits on a supporting framework called the extracellular matrix, or ECM. It is what holds collagen in place, keeps skin springy, and helps it hold water. Over time that framework thins out, which is part of why skin starts to look drier, flatter and less firm.
ECM skin booster is an injectable treatment that places ECM material into the skin using fine needles, so the skin has more of the structure it is built on. It is not a facial and not a filler. It is administered by a doctor in clinic.
What a session involves
- Before
- Your doctor goes through your skin, your goals and your medical history to check whether it suits you.
- During
- The area is cleansed, numbing cream is applied, then small amounts are injected across the area through fine needles.
- How long
- Roughly 30 to 45 minutes, depending on how much area is treated.
- Downtime
- Minimal. Most people go back to their day soon after.
- Sessions
- Usually a course of 2 to 3, about four weeks apart. Your doctor advises what is appropriate for you.
- Areas
- Face, forehead, cheeks, around the mouth, chin, and the under-eye area where clinically appropriate.
